Mashobra is a beautiful small town situated in the Shimla district in the state of Himachal Pradesh. It is situated at a distance of 15 km from Shimla with at an elevation of 2500 mts above the sea level. This charming hill station is popularly known for its amazing nature beauty, greenery, flora and fauna and pilgrimages. Mashobra is surrounding by the dense covered forests of oak and pines. It is an abode of Indian President and once was the holiday place for Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru. Every year the president of India visit Mashobra when they conduct officials business meeting with their dignitaries at Chharabra. The building was constructed in 1850 which is completely made of wooden structure. This building consist 16 rooms and covered an area of 300 acres forest compound. Chharabra is the great example of British architecture. Every year only two weeks the president occupies this building during the summer season after that this building is used by Government of India.

Best time to visit:

Summer: Summer is an ideal time to visit mashobra and perfect for sightseeing. The summer begins from April to till June with the temperature of 8 to 30 degree Celsius.
Winter: Winter is the best time the whole town is covered with snow with the temperature of 0 to 10 degree Celsius. October to till March is the winter season here.
Monsoon: July to September, monsoon is starts at mashobra. During the monsoon it received high amount of rain.


Visiting places in Mashobra:

Craignano: It is an extremely spectacular tourist destination attracts lot of the tourists. It is located at an elevation of 7700 ft above the sea level. It is surrounding by streams and pine and oak forest by all sides. The adventure activities like rock climbing, rappelling and many more one can enjoy here.

Wildflower hall hotel: This is one of the most popular tourist attractions and one of the favorite retreats of Lord Ripon. It was built by Lord Kitchener of Khartoum as a residency. The original building was burn in 1933 and a new wildlife building was built as a hotel.

Reserve forest sanctuary: This sanctuary is the Asia’s largest watersheds supplying water to Shimla. The Reserve forest sanctuary is a must visited and popular attraction of this place. It also a birdwatcher’s delight. The pleasant weather is always made the destination amazing. It is a perfect place for family and friends.

Mahasu Fair: During the month of May a big fair is held here with great joy known as the Mahasu Jatara which is fall on the third Tuesday of May. This fair is dedicated to Lord Mahasu.

Kufri: Kufri is a tiny hill station situated 19 km from Shimla and 28 km from Chail. Kufri close by the Indian Tourists Park and small high altitude zoo are the popular among the tourists. It is a picturesque hill station and with Chail and Shimla it refers as the Golden Triangle. Every year in the month of February an annual winter sports festival held here which is organized by the travel and tourism department.

Shimla: Shimla is one of the most popular hill station of Himachla and the capital of Himachal Pradesh. It got its name from Shyamala Devi incarnation of Goddess Kali. Chail: Chail is a beautiful hill station situated 63 km from Shimla in the shivalik region. It is an amazing little mountain village which was founded by the Maharaja of Patiala “Bhupinder Singh”. The destination covered an area of 72 acres and has pleasant climate throughout the year. Chila palace, and Chila Wildlife sanctuary is major attraction here.

Solan: It is a charming hill station of Himachal Pradesh which is popularly known as the Mushroom capital of India. It is situated 50 km from Shimla which is surrounding by the hills and mountains all around. The destination derives name from Goddess Shoolini Devi which is the main deity of the region. Apart from that, solan is an industrial area and mushroom is a major farming which product here in a large scale.

By Train: The nearest Railway Station is Shimla situated around 11 km from Mashobra. The other nearest Railway station is Chandigarh. Taxies and buses are easily available to reach Mashobra from the outside the Railway station.
By Road: Himachal Pradesh transport corporation provides the regular buses from all the major cities like Chandigarh, Shimla, Kullu, Manali etc are very well connected to the destination.
