Kareri Lake trek is a high altitude trek starts from Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh. It is the most beautiful fresh water Glacier Lake situated at an altitude of 3300 mts above the sea level. This charming lake is formed as result of melting of winter snow from Dhauladhar Mountains. The trek starts from Ghera village and goes through dense forest with scenic valleys. Every year lots of trekkers come here from all around the world because the dhauladhar range remain snow covered in the beginning of the year. It is a good opportunity for beginners and experienced trekkers. The trek pass through the lush green forest filled with chir and Chilgoza pine forest and the later the trail will open up to rocky grassland. This beautiful trek takes 3-4 days to complete because it is a short trek.
This trek is a paradise for beginners trekkers and the area of around serve as the base camp of Minkiani and Bleni Pass. This beautiful lake remains frozen from December to March – April. This trek is open from April to July end and after monsoon the trek again opens until mid November. The temperature is around 12- 14 degree at night of April to July and go down 4 to 9 degree in the month of November. There is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess parvati on a hilltop. During the trek you will enjoy the camping near the lake and spending a night in the Kareri Lake. You will get an experience of amazing trekking through dense forest and beautiful views of the snow – covered peaks. The best thing of the trek is that it is easy accessibility to various part of the region.
Itinerary:
Day 01: Dharamshala – Kareri village – Reoti camp
Arrival at Dharamshala, we will move towards Kareri Village which takes 4-5 hours to reach Reoti via road. We have packed lunch on the way to Reoti. Last one of trek is through dense forest. After reaching beautiful Reoti village, you can take tea and snacks. Enjoy dinner and overnight stay at campsite.
Day 02: Reoti – Kareri Lake
After having breakfast we will proceed towards Kareri Lake early in the morning. Take 2-3 hours to reach Kareri Lake and enjoy the Lunch at the Lake. Enjoy the day and overnight stay at Kareri Lake. Enjoy the dinner under the billion stars.
Day 03: Kareri Lake – Kareri Village - Dharamshala
After having breakfast in the campsite we will move back to Kareri Village. After reaching Kareri village, we starts drive back to Dharamshala.
