Solan is a beautiful hill station of Himachal Pradesh which is popularly known as the Mushroom Capital of India. The destination is situated 51 km from Shimla with at an elevation of 1470 mts above the sea level. Solan is mostly forested area which is surrounding by the hills and mountains peaks. It is one of the popular hill stations like another – Kasauli and chail. This beautiful destination is famous as the “City of Red Gold” because Tomatoes are mostly produced in the area. The solan is surrounding by the high peaks like East to Matiul peak and North to Karol peak which is the highest peak in the region. The town got its name from Goddess Shoolini Devi she was the deity of the region. In Around Solan you will enjoy the interesting trekking and the town played an important role as an industrial town. Mushroom farming is an important role in a large scale.

Best Time to reach Solan:

Summer: The summer (March to July) is an ideal time to visit solan because the summer is pleasant here and good for sightseeing. The temperature during summer is around 15 to 30 degree.
Winter: December to till February is the winters here and woolen clothes are must required at this time.
Monsoon: Monsoon is the good time for visit September to November is the monsoon season here.


The major attraction of the place:

Habban Valley: Habban is a beautiful valley surrounding by the deodar forest and the peacocks, deer, tigers, bears, kakkar, kastura and ghol etc are found in Wildlife of Habban.

Chail Sanctuary: Chail is a hill station which is visited by many tourists. The place is Deodar and Oak forests with grasslands around the town. This sanctuary was established in 21st March 1976 near the town.

Kuthar Fort: Kuthar fort is about 800 years old which was built by the Gurkha king when they ruled over this part of the land. The fort is covered a large number of the area.

Solan brewery: This is an oldest brewery in the world which was started by an Englishman. it is very close to Solan Railway station.

Menri Monastery: Menri Monastery is one of the most beautiful and colored place in Solan. This monastery is one of the oldest monasteries in India. The monastery has large statue of Lord Shenrab Mibo.

Shoolini Mata Temple: This temple is dedicated to Goddess Shoolini and it is one of the oldest and holiest temples in this region. Every year in the month of June a big fair is held here which is celebrated with great joy.

Jawahar Park: This is a well maintained park and good for spend some relaxing and enjoyable time.

Parwanoo: Parwanoo is a beautiful Industrial area and a paradise industrial township which is located at the base of Shivalik hills. This is a beautiful Gateway to Himachal Pradesh via Kalka.

Kasauli: Kasauli is one of the most beautiful hill stations of Himachal which is situated at a distance of 77 km from Kalka with at an elevation of 2,107 mts above the sea level. This charming hill station is a quiet and relaxing place where you feel relax and rejuvenate.

Barog: Barog is a beautiful place situated at a distance of 37 km from Kalka. Tourists who visit Himachal destination they are lunch halted for an hour and the town is surrounding by the fresh air and fine views.

Chail: Chail is a beautiful hill resort surrounding by the Pine and Deodar Forests. It was the summer resort of Maharaja of Patiala.

Arki: Arki is situated at a distance of 39 km from Shimla nad 60 km Solan. Akri is a full day excursion destination and don’t miss the Arki fort now this fort is converted into a heritage site. The temple of the place is in Shikhara style.

Nalagarh Palace: Nalagarh is situated around 45 km from Pinjore. This palace has an amazing architecture style in Mughal and Indian.

By Air: Shimla is the nearest Airport situated 45 km from Solan. The destination has no own Airport. Cabs and Taxies are easily available outside the Airport.
By Train: The nearest Railway Station is Kalka around 40 km away from Sonal. Cabs and Taxies are easily available outside the Railway station.
BY Road: The destination is well connected to the major destination of Himachal.
